The Story Behind Memories Stick

Welcome to Memories Stick, founded by Jade in August 2020 after realising that my hobby could be turned into a viable business to help others.

My History with Scrapbooking

I have been scrapbooking since a child, I always had scissors and glue in my hand prepped for yet another book of my life!

When my first child came along, I fell back in love with the idea of keeping his photos of his childhood in one place and it was around about this time that the store, Hobbycraft, opened up in the UK, a crafters dream!

So I spent the first five years of my son’s life preserving his photos onto scrapbook paper, stickers, embellishments etc.

I gave him this book on his 13th birthday as well as a digital book of his primary school years because the wonder of technology growth meant that we now had digital scrapbooking in the palm of our hands. I had also made traditional scrapbooks for my Mum’s 50th birthday and my parent’s 25th wedding anniversary as they made ideal gifts.

Fast forward to now and I have ten years worth of photo books stored on my shelves in our living room showcasing our life story and it completely fills me with joy.

Memories Stick was born

It wasn’t until the pandemic of 2020 hit and I sadly lost my Dad to the coronavirus that I sat one day trying to find my Dad’s photos in one place but it was proving quite difficult. I mostly had photos from his social media pages stored on my phone but they weren’t in any order and it was frustrating not to have them to hand.

I eventually did manage to get them all but it was time consuming and annoying but it was in this moment that I realised that others might be in the same situation as me.

With thousands of photos on our digital devices, it can be super hard to track down one particular photo and even more so, having the worry of losing all those photos is terrifying!

To see if my future business was viable, I sent out a survey which received ver 60 responses, nearly of which said the same thing:

“I have too many photos, I feel overwhelmed!”
“I don’t have the time to sort out my photos!”
“I feel like I take too many photos but don’t know where to start with organising them!”

This confirmed what I already knew, that people need my help in getting photo organised!

My Mission

I get this feeling in my belly when I think about how I can just reach for a particular year to look through with my kids, the excitement and joy of looking back at our memories whenever we feel like it and I want this for others too.

My mission with Memories Stick is to help you to get your photos off your devices and into your hands to look back on and tell your story for future generations. I will do this through explaining how to organise your photos in the best way possible and by designing your scrapbook pages for you and put into stunning photo books.

If you get the warm fuzzy feeling that I get when I give you your final product then I know it was totally worth launching this business in the UK.

Who do I help?

I am looking for Mum’s who just don’t have the time to sort out all their photos, whether printed or on your phone. You feel overwhelmed with the amount you have taken and you’re worried you may lose the important memories taken.

I am here to help you feel relief knowing your photos will be backed up and you have access to them whenever you want.

If this sounds like you, please do get in touch as I would love to help you get photo organised and store your photos in a unique and beautiful way.

Thank you for reading my story, you can follow me on the socials for photo organising tips and advice!
